KINLOCHLEVEN MEET (MAY 2008)
After a 7.00a.m. start from Aberdeenshire, Bob, Andy,
Gregor, Kasia, Malcolm and Beinn climbed Stob a'Choire Mheadhoin
and Stob Coire Easain, en-route to the Blackwater Hostel in Kinlochleven.
On arriving in Kinlochleven they were joined during the course of the
evening by Paul, Marion, Michael, Iain, Morag, Ailsa and Sheila.
A good nights sleep was had by most and an early start on Saturday
morning saw Andy and Beinn set off walking from the Hostel to do a
traverse of the Corbett Mam na Gualainn while all other meet attendees
headed for the Mamores. Starting from Mamore Lodge, all of the group
successfully ascended Sgurr Eilde Mor, on what turned out to be a
scorching hot day. Bob, Malcolm, Kasia, Iain and Morag continued on to
also summit Binnein Mor and Binnein Beag, arriving back at the Hostel
around 19:30, looking somewhat tanned/sunburnt!
On Sunday, several attendees made directly for home while Bob, Malcolm,
Kasia and Gregor set off to ascend the Beinn a'Bheither pair (Sgorr
Dearg and Sgorr Dhonuill). Paul set out for a second day in the Mamores
to An Gearanach.
Thanks to Gregor for organising this successful weekend and for
arranging the good weather. Significantly better weather than the past
two meets to Inchnadamph and Crianlarich :-)
Congratulations to Bob for 'bagging' his 100th Munro on Stob Coire
Easian.
Congratulations to Malcolm for 'bagging' his 100th Munro on Sgorr Dhearg.
